Kathleen Gingrich, mother of Republican politician Newt Gingrich, initially refused to tell CBS' Connie Chung what her son thought about First Lady Hillary Clinton during a 1995 interview. Chung pressed her for details, saying, "Just whisper it to me, just between you and me." Microphone clipped in place, Gingrich leaned in and confided, "He thinks she's a bitch." Though critics blasted Chung for airing the "private" comment, Clinton tried to make amends by inviting both Gingriches on a personal tour of the White House. They accepted.
